The Three Faces of Eve is a compelling 1957 movie for all those intrigued by personality disorders. The movie is based on a book written by psychiatrists Corbett Thigpen and Hervey M. Cleckley. The book was adapted to film by Nunnally Johnson who also directs the film. The Three Faces of Eve documents the true story of Chris Costner Sizemore, aka Eve White (Joanne Woodward), a woman plagued with severe multiple personality disorder. Eve becomes increasingly tormented by blinding headaches and lapses in judgement. When her husband (David Wayne) picks up on her peculiar demeanor, he urges she see a psychiatrist. After an intense session of psychotherapy, Eve's therapist (Lee J. Cobb) hypnotizes her and unearths hidden parts of her psyche. That is when Eve's alter ego, a woman named Eve Black surfaces. Black's personality is the antithesis of Eve White's - she is fearless and exuberant. Will Eve ever escape this crippling condition, or is she doomed to have a split-mind forever?
