The Three Stooges is a biographical comedy film directed by James Frawley based on Michael Fleming's The Three Stooges: From Amalgamated Morons to American Icons that tells the story of how the iconic Three Stooges came together from their origins as a stooge act for vaudeville actor Ted Healy (Martin Csokas) to the height of their career as a comedic sensation. Set as a flashback of the ringleader Moe Howard (Paul Ben-Victor) in 1959, Moe remembers their start with his older brother Shemp (John Kassir) and friend Larry Fine (Evan Handler) in Healy's stage act. When Columbia Pictures offered a deal through Harry Cohn (Linal Haft), the Howard brothers swap out Shemp for Jerome, otherwise known as Curly, (Michael Chiklis) in order to make little comedies. While the world knows of the trio for their slapstick and farces, few remember the struggles they had trying to gain their earnings from Columbia and to remain on the ball as Curly suffers a career-ending stroke in 1946, Shemp dies from a massive heart attack, and the line up changes to the point of marking the end of the Three Stooges.moreless
