The Tioga Kid is the 1948 remake of the The Driftin' Kid. The Tioga Kid was directed by Ray Taylor. It was the last film in the Eagle-Lion western series starring Eddie Dean. In the film Eddie (Eddie Dean) is an upright Texas Ranger. Clip Mason (Eddie Dean), known around town as The Tioga Kid, is the lead of a gang of horse thieves plaguing his area. When the bandits make life impossible for Jennifer Holt (Jenny Morgan), Eddie is forced to stand up for her. Dean must find a way to save Holt's stock without sacrificing her life and put the thieves behind bars. The film gets more complicated when Eddie's faithful, but not too bright, sidekick Soapy Jones (Roscoe Ates) mistakes Dean for Mason and makes mistakes based on misinformation. It is typically considered Dean's best film. It contains a number of cowboy-song favorites, for which Dean was famous.
