Rating:
The Tomb of Ligeia is an eerie film adaptation of Edgar Allen's Poe's work of the same name about a man who becomes obsessed with the idea of reuniting with his dead wife. Though it has been years since his headstrong wife Ligeia committed suicide, Verdon Fell (Vincent Price) still adores her and believes she will return to him once more. After an odd accident in which Rowena Trevanion (Elizabeth Shepherd), the daughter of a nearby lord, is thrown from her horse onto Ligeia's grave, Fell becomes quite interested in the young woman and the two are eventually married. The still distraught widower, however, becomes obsessed with the idea that Ligeia's spirit has been instilled in the body of Rowena, and begins to exhibit odd, erratic behavior, causing his new bride call for help to cure her new husband of his obsession. Legendary director Roger Corman leads this spirited adaptation, haunting and terrifying throughout.
