The Trail Beyond is an early western from the 1930s, starring John Wayne. Rob Drew (John Wayne) and his friend Wabi (Noah Beery Jr.) are hired to locate a miner (Noah Beery) and his daughter (Felice Newsome). This happens after Drew rescues Wabi from a group of card sharks. However, they find more than they intended to on the search, namely a pair of skeletons and a map leading to an abandoned gold mine. They are not the only ones who would like to get their hands on the treasure map, especially an infamous trapper Jules LaRocque (Robert Frazer). On top of that, the Mounties are looking for Wabi for shooting one of the card sharks, a deed he did not commit. Directed by Robert N. Bradbury, the movie was loosely based on a novel written by James Oliver Curwood. It was filmed in Kings Canyon National Park in central California.
