The Treatment is a story about Jake Singer (Chris Eigeman), a Manhattan prep school instructor, who is unhappy with his life and unable to commit to a permanent relationship. Distressed after he runs into his newly engaged ex-girlfriend, Julia (Stephanie March), Jake decides to get help from psychoanalyst Dr. Ernesto Morales (Ian Holm). Dr. Morales takes pride in being one of the few remaining Freudian psychoanalysts and he probes harshly and deeply into every aspect of Jake's life. His response to all of Jake's complaints is that Jake is at fault and needs to get on with his life. Even as Jake works through his issues in therapy, he has turned his attention to Allegra Marshall (Famke Janssen), the recently widowed mother of one of his students. Their growing attraction is complicated by Allegra's grief, their different social circles, and Jake's therapy. Released in 2006, The Treatment won the "Best Film Made in New York" award at the Tribeca Film Festival where the film premiered.moreless
