Rating:

The Trial of Old Drum is a 2000 family adventure drama from director Sean McNamara and inspired by a true story. Set in 1950's rural Missouri, the story is about an average eleven year old boy named Charlie Burden (Bobby Edner) whose ornery uncle Lon (John Schuck, Mash, My Mother's a Werewolf, Dick Tracy, The Munsters Today) presses sheep killing charges against his faithful Golden Retriever dog Drum, starting not only a family legal feud but community discord as their town begins to take sides. Charlie is willing to fight tooth and nail for his old mongrel, which saved which life when Charlie almost drowned whilst he and his best friend Dee (Alia Shawkat) were building a clandestine raft, for fishing at proximal Miller's Lake. Charlie's dad Charles Sr. (Ron Perlman, Sleepwalkers, Cronos, Hellboy, Alien: Resurrection, Beauty and the Beast) does all he can to help his son in his quest.
