The Truth About Charlie is a 2002 thriller directed by Jonathan Demme. Regina Lambert (Thandie Newton) is devastated when she comes home after a long vacation to a violent surprise. It turns out that Regina is now a widow, since her husband, Charlie (Stephen Dillane), has been murdered. With no time to grieve, Regina is forced to reevaluate everything she thought she knew about her husband. It appears that her husband has stolen millions of dollars, and now Regina is the target of mysterious and violent strangers who apparently want Regina to share Charlie's disastrous fate. Desperate to figure out the sudden web of deception she has stumbled into and save her own life, Regina reluctantly accepts the help of a debonair stranger, Lewis (Mark Wahlberg), who promises that he will be able to help her. In a world filled with lies, mystery, scandal and betrayals, however, Regina is not sure she can fully trust anybody.
