The Turn Of The Screw is a haunting tale of a governess who encounters unexpected visitors while caring for two young siblings. In a notable English manor, an eclectic Master (Colin Firth) employs a young Miss (Jodhi May) to look after his niece and nephew, under the strange condition that she does not have any contact with him. However, as her new job commences, she not only is quite taken with her elusive employer, but starts to realize that such a stipulation is far from the most bizarre part of her employment. In caring for the her adorable new wards Miles (Joe Sowerbutts) and Flora (Grace Robsinson), Miss begins to notice a strange duo of ominous figures lurking around the premises. Upon further investigation she learns that they are the ghosts of Peter Quint (Jason Salkey) and Miss Jessel (Caroline Pegg), two former workers at the estate that died under mysterious circumstances. Finding out that the two children can also see the ghosts, Miss becomes increasingly fixated on both the presence of ghosts and the thought of her Master, losing her fragile grasp on reality with every eerie moment. Ben Bolt directs this television adaptation of a classic Henry James short story.moreless
