This 1973 horror film was a follow-up to the previous year's unexpectedly very popular "Tales From The Crypt", also made by Amicus Productions. Like the earlier film, it was adapted from stories in the American horror comics of the 1950s (from which the titles are derived). These comic books had been published by William Gaines, who also wrote several of the stories, and were unknown in Britain, where the films were made - they had been banned by the government of the day.
Maitland: There's no money in horror.
