The Velvet Vampire is a 1971 cult horror classic film directed by Stephanie Rothman. The film follows the nice guy Lee Ritter (played by Michael Blodgett) and his dippy but pretty wife Susan (played by Shery Miles). The couple accepts an invitation from the mysterious and beautiful Diane LeFanu (played by Celest Yarnall) to come stay with her at her secluded Mojave Desert manor. Tensions rise as both Lee and Susan become objects of seduction for the pale Diane who is, of course, a vampire who is actually centuries old. She is not the standard film vampire however, as she casts a reflection and is not overly adverse to sunlight. This film was on of the first horror movie companies released by Roger Corman's film company 'New World.' The only known master print of this film belongs to film director Quentin Tarintino. The film was made on a very low budget but has an artistic style throughout, with surreal dream sequences and an intriguing soundtrack.
