Rating:
PG-13
The Very Thought of You (Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence) is a British romantic comedy centered around a woman who finds herself torn between several suitors. The film, which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 1998, was written by Peter Morgan and directed by Nick Hamm. Martha (Monica Potter) is more than fed up with the mundanity of her lifestyle in Minneapolis. She rashly acts on impulse, quitting her job and purchasing the next flight to London where she aspires to create a new life for herself. It is not long before three seemingly dissimilar British 'blokes' show interest in her. What is most shocking, however, is that all three of them - Daniel (Tom Hollander), Frank (Rufus Sewell) and Laurence (Joseph Fiennes) - are actually best friends! The Very Thought of You is teeming with cute, romantic scenes and just the right amount of comedic relief. Two thumbs up!
