The Violent Men is a 1955 Western in which a rancher has to stand up to gunslinging bullies in order to protect his land. John Parrish (Glenn Ford) is an ex-Union officer who has travelled west to recover from his war wounds. He's now engaged and planning to sell his property and move back east. However, ranch owner Lee Wilkison (Edward G. Robinson) has in mind to take Parrish's newly acquired land from him by force. He offers Parrish a ridiculously low sum for his property and refuses to bargain. Wilkison burns Parrish out of his home, but Parrish is determined to stand his ground. Meanwhile, Wilkison's wife, Martha (Barbara Stanwyck), is cheating on her husband with his brother (Brian Keith) and disturbing what is already a volatile situation. The brother has yet another lover. The conflict at home broils over and Wilkison tries to take his rage out on Parrish, only to discover that he has messed with the wrong man.moreless
