The Violent Years is a 1956 film aimed at exposing the perceived moral decay of society's young women. Paula (Jean Morehead) is beautiful, wealthy and by all outward appearances a model citizen. Her father, a newspaper mogul, is too busy to spend time with her; her mother is more interested in fishing for compliments at charity events than having girl time with her daughter. Paula is given everything she could ever want - except attention. So she seeks it the only way she and her friends think they can attract it - by cross-dressing, robbing gas stations and forcing sex on unsuspecting young men. The girls manage to avoid capture with the help of her father and his media relationship with law enforcement, all unbeknownst to him. As her parents find themselves on trial for the unsavory acts of their daughter, they come to realize that perhaps this could have all been avoided, but at a cost no parent, no matter how wealthy, wants to pay. Screenplay written by Ed Wood.moreless
