The Violin is a 2005 drama written and directed by Francisco Vargas. It tells the story of a family of farmers and musicians who joined a rebel movement against the corrupt government of a Latin American country. The Army defeats the guerilla forces and occupies the village, leaving the rebels with no option but to escape to the highlands, hoping for revenge. Without their ammunition supplies which are hidden in the corn fields near the village, the freedom fighters cannot continue their sacred war. The head of the family, Don Plutarco (Angel Tavira), tries to make his way to his own land passing through Army patrols. The Captain (Dagoberto Gama) agrees to let Plutarco through, but insists that the gifted musician will play his violin for him each day. Charmed by his beautiful music, the soldiers are unaware that the violin case is also a hiding place for ammunition. Dedicated to his mission, Plutarco continues to play wonderful music and help his fellow fighters stash the ammunition he supplies for the upcoming great battle.moreless
