The Wanderers is an action film that takes place in New York during the 1960's and centers on The Wanderers, an Italian-American gang comprised of teenage boys. The gang members struggle with rival gangs while trying to figure out their personal lives. Richie (Ken Wahl), the leader of The Wanderers, has gotten his girlfriend, Despie (Tonu Galem), pregnant. Perry (Tony Ganios), another member of the gang, is forced to deal with an alcoholic mother. Joey (John Friedrich), the third member of the gang, has a flaring temper, mainly due to his rough home life. One day in school, The Wanderers have a verbal fight with the Del Bombers, a black gang. They decide to settle the altercation by having a brawl. Despie's father (Dolph Sweet) is a mob boss who hears about the upcoming fight and decides to offer a different option for settling their differences -- by playing a football game. However, an older gang, The Ducky Boys, comes into the picture, and The Wanderers are forced to deal with bigger problems than the Del Bombers.moreless
