The Way of the Gun is an action-packed crime drama written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie and released in 2000. Mr. Parker (Ryan Phillippe) and Mr. Longbaugh (Benicio Del Toro) are two small-time crooks who are always interested in making easy money. While making donations at the local sperm bank, the two men overhear a conversation between the wealthy, infertile Chiddicks (Scott Wilson and Kristin Lehman) and their surrogate mother, Robin (Juliette Lewis). Robin is protected by her bodyguards Jeffers (Taye Diggs) and Obecks (Nicky Katt). Parker and Longbaugh kidnap Robin, driving away in a hail of bullets and leaving the bodyguards in the dust. Heading south, they telephone the Chiddicks and demand fifteen million dollars for the safe return of Robin and the unborn baby. However, Parker and Longbaugh quickly learn that they're embroiled in a situation that is far more complex, and far more dangerous, than they ever suspected.

May feel redundant, but it is stylish and intelligent.

Each of the talented thesps has some good moments, but, ultimately, none can rise above the limitations of the material and filmmaking.

An implement of destruction loaded with more borrowed film riffs than could be compiled by 47 clones of Robert Rodriguez..
