The Way to Dusty Death is a TV movie released in 1995 and directed by Geoffrey Reeve. It is based on the novel of the same name from the acclaimed Scottish author Alistair MacLean. Racing star Johnny Harlow (Simon MacCorkindale) is hired as a new driver by the up-and-coming racing team Corona. Almost immediately his trainer is killed and, after a series of accidents, Johnny concludes that something is definitely wrong. Along with the help of an alluring ex-KGB operative, Alexis Dunetskaya (Serena Scott Thomas), they discover the racing team is a front for an eastern European diamond smuggling ring who will do anything to protect their underground business. Complicating matters is Johnny's love interest, Beth MacAlpine (Linda Hamilton), whom he must keep away from the ruthless smugglers. Can Johnny and Alexis cull enough evidence to bring to the authorities or the will the mobsters exact their street justice on their newly hired driver?
