The Whistle Blower is a 1987 action thriller centered around a father propelled into a web of confusion as he investigates the mysterious death of his son. The film is based on a novel by John Hale which Julian Bond adapted to screen. Simon Langton directs. Frank Jones (Michael Caine) is a seasoned war vet whose talented son Robert (Nigel Havers) works for British intelligence services as a linguist. Robert spends many hours translating Russian code into English for the government. Sadly, he is strangely killed one day and Frank has difficulty making sense out of his sudden tragedy. As he immerses himself into a quest to discover the truth behind his son's death, he runs into the most alarming and controversial information regarding secret services'on both sides. With so much incriminating evidence on his conscience, Frank fears his life is in danger.
