The Wild One is a 1953 drama about Johnny (Marlon Brando), the leader of the "Black Rebel Motorcycle Club," a gang forced to lodge in a small town when one of their members, Crazy (Gene Peterson), is injured while drag racing through the town. The locals voice their displeasure about a gang of troublesome bikers staying in their quiet community, but things remain relatively calm. When Crazy leaves the hospital, Johnny plans to lead the gang out of town but a rival gang, the Beetles, show up. When the local sheriff jails Chino (Lee Marvin), the leader of the Beetles, his gang goes on the warpath. Showing decency, Johnny saves the sheriff's daughter (Mary Murphy) from the destruction by leading her away from the danger, but the townsfolk think he is going to rape her. Johnny is attacked by the mob and in the melee a pedestrian is accidentally killed and Johnny is blamed. The Wild One was directed by Laslo Benedek from a script by John Paxton and Frank Rooney.moreless
