The Winslow Boy is a 1999 drama based on the British classic. The story follows the lives of the Winslow family, who are all busy preparing for the upcoming nuptials of their daughter when they are met with some disturbing news. Arthur Winslow (Nigel Hawthorne), the father, learns that his youngest son Ronnie (Guy Edwards) has returned home from Naval College after being accused of stealing a five shilling postal note from a classmate and has now been expelled as a result. Ronnie says he is innocent and believing his son, Arthur soon demands an apology from the college. Unfortunately, the college refuses and he later learns that under British Law, the status of the college makes them even exempt from any outside comments about disciplinary decisions at all. Arthur decides to take the matter before Parliament and in the process, hires a lawyer that opposes some of the values of the family. It soon becomes clear that while Arthur is looking for real justice, his motives may also center on a case of foolish pride that threatens to break his family.moreless
