The Woman in the Window is a spellbinding thriller skillfully directed by Fritz Lang. The story opens with Professor Richard Wanley (Edward G. Robinson) headed to meet a few of his esteemed friends at their men's club. On his way to the club, Wanley passes an art gallery displaying a portrait of a beautiful model. Wanley is stunned by the model's beauty and pauses to admire her beauty before continuing on to meet his friends. Over drinks, Wanley confesses to feeling stuck in a life devoid of adventure. Wanley's friends advise him not to pursue his feelings but this proves easier said than done. Wanley encounters Alice Reed (Joan Bennet), the stunning model from the portrait on his way home. Flattered by his attention, she invites him into the gallery to view more sketches when a man bursts in on them and accuses Wanley of infidelity. In a fit of rage, the man chokes Wanley who has no alternative but to stab the man with scissors placed in his hands by Alice. This encounter sets forth a chain of events that sends Wanley's life spiraling into more adventure than he could ever want.moreless
