The World's Greatest Athlete is a twist off of the classic tale of Tarzan. Sam Archer (John Amos) is the coach at a major university, and he has not won anything during his time there. Increasing pressure from the Alumni Association and constant losing leaves Coach Archer in need of vacation. He heads to Africa for a safari with his assistant coach, Milo (Tim Conway). The pair end up finding the greatest athlete in the world, Nanu (Jan-Michael Vincent), whose parents were missionaries and died in the jungle. The coaching duo thinks that if they can convince Nanu to come back with them to school, they will assuredly start to win. They end up tricking Nanu into coming back with them, and they get him a tutor, Jane (Dayle Haddon). They have an instant connection, but Nanu is homesick for the jungle where he was raised. Can Jane help Nanu to stay and keep winning for Coach Archer or will he return to jungle?moreless
