The Wrecking Crew is a 1968 spy-fi film starring Dean Martin in his fourth and final role as secret agent Matt Helm. The Matt Helm films were one of many spy series created in the wake of the hugely successful James Bond films of the late sixties and seventies. In this installment, ICE (the covert operations agency that Helms works for) assigns Helm to take down Count Contini, a maniacal tyrant who plans to steal enough gold to destroy the world's economy. If Contini succeeds, he'll be an all-powerful ruler over planet Earth. Helm thinks he can finish the job on his own, but ICE assigns beautiful British agent Freya Carlson (Sharon Tate) to back him up on the mission. The two agents don't get along at first, but they develop a rocky relationship as they fight to save the world. Chuck Norris appears briefly in his first feature-film role. The Wrecking Crew is a sexy and action-packed spy film, directed by Phil Karlson with music composed by Hugo Montenegro.moreless
