Then She Found Me is a 2008 relationship drama starring and directed by Oscar winner Helen Hunt ("As Good As It Gets"). April Epner (Helen Hunt), a New York schoolteacher, hits midlife with a trio of troubles. First, her husband, Ben (Matthew Broderick), leaves her just as they were trying to have a child. Her adoptive mother suddenly dies. Out of the blue, her biological mother, Bernice Graves (Bette Midler), wants to have a relationship. Bernice is a world-famous, and controversial, talk show host. The depressed and confused April needs support but resents that Bernice took so many years to find her. Although April feels conflicted about Bernice, the two women try to find a way to being part of each other's life. Meanwhile, April meets a new man, Frank (Colin Firth), the father of one of her students. Just as her life seems to be on the upswing, her ex-husband reappears and complicates the new beginnings.
