These Foolish Things is a 2006 romantic comedy and drama film directed and written by Julia Taylor-Stanley and based on the novel by Noel Langley. Between World War I and the outbreak of World War II, blithe, pretty Diana (Zoe Tapper) dreams of becoming a great star. Inspired by the fact that acting runs in her family, Diana heads off to 1930s London to fulfill her destiny. She meets Robin (David Leon), a playwright who is just as ambitious as Diana. The two seem to be made for each other. Robin is right on the brink of breaking into show business, having attracted the attention of Lottie Osgood (Anjelica Huston), an affluent American woman who wants to support Robin's dreams. Handsome Robin has also caught the eye of a possible leading man, Douglas Middleton (Mark Umbers). To make matters more complicated for Diana and Robin, however, Douglas is actively pursuing the young playwright. As the two young lovers try to make their way in a catty and glamorous world, they learn important lessons about the nature of fame.moreless
