Things To Come is a 1935 British Science Fiction film directed by William Cameron Menzies, based on the story by H.G. Wells. John Cabal (Raymond Massey) lives in a town called Everytown. He is worried the rumors of war may be true. John's friend, Harding (Maurice Bradell) sympathizes with him, but another friend, Passworthy (Edward Chapman) believes there will be no war. Everytown is flattened that night by a bomb raid and global war transpires. John joins in the war as a pilot but has a hard time with killing people. The war continues for decades and people forget what the war was about. A horrible plague breaks out, but with all of the destruction, it's hard to find a cure because technology has been destroyed. Different factions begin to form with their own opinionated ideas of society and how to rebuild. John Cabal ends up being the only one left with a working bi-plane and urges people to join his group that will begin anew and live in peace forever.moreless
