Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo is a classic war drama with an all-star cast, depicting events that occurred during a top-secret mission after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. It's 1942, and Americans want some payback after having their country bombed by the Japanese. Lt. Cornel Doolittle (Spencer Tracy) has a plan. It involves recruiting the nation's best pilots and training them to do the impossible. They must learn how to launch a B-25 bomber off an aircraft carrier. Sixteen pilots volunteer for the mission, including Lt. Lawson (Van Johnson), Lt. Gray (Robert Mitchum) and Lt.White (Horace McNally). After some intense training in California and Florida, Doolittle and his team head to Tokyo. Japanese submarines get wind of the attack, forcing the mission to launch early. Doolittle then enters his plane "The Ruptured Duck," and leads his crew to a successful bombing over Tokyo. Things start to go wrong after the pilots realize that they don't have enough fuel to return to their ship.
