Rating:
R
Thirty Years to Life is a 2001 American romantic comedy from Oasis Entertainment Inc., written and directed by Vanessa Middleton. In the film, six African-American friends in New York City are approaching their thirtieth birthdays around the same time. As the date approaches that signals the usual end of being considered a young adult, as well as the dreaded slowing of that lovely metabolism, the friends reconsider their lives. They assess whether they are actualizing their dreams and achieving what is important in life. Their varied conclusions and responses to those conclusions are an ample source of humor throughout the duration of the 110 minute film. The film has received great critical acclaim, winning a 2003 Black Reel Award and being nominated for another, as well as receiving a nomination for a 2001 Grand Jury Prize from the Sundance Film Festival. However, the film is for more mature audiences, as Thirty Years to Life is rated R for language and some sexual content.moreless
