This Property Is Condemned is based on a work of fiction by renowned 20th century author Tennessee Williams. The film is set in a small town in Mississippi during the Great Depression. When Owen Legate (Robert Redford) comes into town with the intention of shutting down much of its railways, the town realizes that this will lead to the destruction of their economy. When Alva Starr (Natalie Wood), a vixen with big plans but no means of execution, finds Owen on her doorstep, a romantic affair begins to take shape. This does not go over well with Alva's mother, Hazel Starr (Kate Reid). Alva has failed to inform Owen that she is married to J.J. Nichols (Charles Bronson). Hazel vows revenge, and backed by her neighbors, they set out to destroy Owen and reclaim the prosperity of their town. How far will they have to go to ensure the wellbeing of their home?
