Tight Spot is a 1955 dramatic comedy about a former model who is serving prison time for a crime she did not commit. The model, Sherry Conley (Ginger Rogers), is offered a chance to be set free by U.S. attorney Lloyd Hallett (Edward Robinson) if she will appear as a key witness in the trial of notorious gangster, Benjamin Costain (Lorne Greene). However, Costain's connections are deep, and he does everything in his power to make life miserable for Sherry - even though she is under protective watch. First, the gangster somehow manages to coerce the security guard watching over Sherry into allowing his henchmen to invade the room she is hiding out in. Then, Costain further intimidates Sherry by murdering Mrs. Willoughby (Sherry Anderson), a policewoman who has escorted Sherry around town during the trial. Though she initially was uncooperative about testifying, Willoughby's murder makes the model finally decide to take the stand to put Costain and his goons away. Tight Spot was based on the novel by Leonard Kantor, entitled, "Dead Pigeon."moreless
