To Walk with Lions is a biographical drama directed by Carl Schultz and starring Richard Harris, John Michie and Kerry Fox. The movie tells the true story of drifter Tony Fitzjohn (John Michie) and his relationship with conservationist George Adamson (Richard Harris). Tony floats from job to job as he travels through Africa and somehow ends up being hired as Adamson's assistant. This chance encounter turns out to change Fitzjohn's life forever. The story centers on Adamson's struggle to run his lion release program and the politics involved during a time when the Kenyan government is in a state of disarray. The film, through the eyes of Fitzjohn, shows the strong bond that develops between Adamson and Fitzjohn as they fight for their lions. The movie Born Free told the story of Adamson's early efforts to protect lions while this particular movie focuses on the time from when Fitzjohn is initially hired to when he takes over Adamson's life work in 1989, a span of 18 years.moreless
