Tom Thumb, made in 1958, is a musical version of the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. Jonathan (Bernard Miles) and Anne (Jessie Matthews) have the desire to have a tiny son. One day Jonathan is ready to chop down a large tree. The Forest Queen (June Thorburn) appears and she grants them three wishes. The last wish is for Tom Thumb (Russ Tamblyn). Tom immediately starts seeking out adventures. He befriends the Forest Queen's boyfriend, Woody (Alan Young), and helps two robbers, Ivan (Terry Thomas) and Antony (Peter Sellers). Tom eventually realizes that they are robbers and helps catch them, but he must dance and sing his way to being the hero. Toys come to life, Tom flies a balloon and he makes friends on his adventures. Tom Thumb is filled with light and upbeat songs, captivating dancing and award-winning special effects that prove dazzling to both kids and adults.
