Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life is a 2003 action film directed by Dutch cinematographer Jan de Bont. It is the second installment in the Tomb Raider series, which is based on the best-selling video games of the same name. When the British Secret Intelligence Service discovers that terrorist Jonathan Reiss (Ciar''n Hinds) is searching for Pandora's Box, which contains a deadly plague, the agency gives archaeologist Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) the job of finding it first. While exploring a cave off the coast of Santorini, Lara finds a glowing orb that can act as the map to Pandora's Box, which is located somewhere in the Cradle of Life. Unfortunately, criminal Chen Lo (Simon Yam) manages to steal the orb, and he plans to sell it to Jonathan. Joined by ex-mercenary Terry Sheridan (Gerard Butler), Lara goes on a fantastic, perilous adventure in order to reclaim the orb and prevent Jonathan from opening Pandora's Box.
