Tommy Boy is a 1995 adventure comedy film by director Peter Segal, starring Chris Farley and David Spade. Tommy Callahan Jr. (Chris Farley) is a tubby dim with who barely manages to graduate from Marquette University after seven years! When he finally does graduate, he returns home to Sandusky, Ohio where his proud father, Tom Callahan Sr. (Brian Dennehy), hires him to an executive position at the family car parts plant, Callahan Auto. When Tom Sr. suffers a fatal heart attack at a too-exciting reception, however, Tommy is in charge. He is afraid that the company will go south when the bank reneges on loans Tom Sr. had made to pay for a new brake pad division, so he gives the bank his inheritance as collateral and sets off on a cross-nation sales trip with his fatherâs former assistant, Richard Hayden (David Spade). Hare-brained schemes, a pair of con artists, and some shady sales make things more complicated, but this unexpected duo will not give up. Tommy Boy won a 1996 MTV Movie Award and was nominated for another 1996 MTV Movie Award, as well as a 1996 Razzie Award.
