Tooth Fairy is a 2010 fantasy comedy film directed by Michael Lembeck. In the film, Derek Thompson (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) is a minor league hockey player nicknamed the Tooth Fairy. He earned this nickname because of his habit of knocking out his opponents' teeth. The relationship between Derek and his girlfriend, Carly (Ashley Judd), is strained because Derek cannot relate to Carly's children, six-year-old, Tess (Destiny Whitlock), and teenager Randy (Chase Ellison). When Derek almost crushes Tess' dreams, he is punished by the fairy he claimed did not exist, the real Tooth Fairy. He is summoned to the magical world of fairies where he meets head fairy, Lily (Julie Andrews). Lily scolds Derek for his harsh behavior with Tess and sentences him to work in the fairy world. Derek does not take the situation seriously and believes he is dreaming. Later it becomes obvious he was not dreaming. With the help of a fairy named Jerry (Billy Crystal), Derek attempts to finish his sentence unscathed.
