Top Secret Affair is a romantic comedy film that follows the story of US Army Major Melville Goodwin (Kirk Douglas), who has just been appointed to the Joint Atomic International Commission by the US President. When media mogul Dottie Peale (Susan Hayward) hears this news, she becomes angry because she wants her father's friend to hold this position. She devises a plot to ruin Melville's reputation as a respected member of society. Dottie invites Melville to her home so she can conduct an interview with him, hoping he will say or do something indiscreet. Her plan fails as Melville does not do anything to make him look bad. Dottie decides to take him to a bar to get him drunk in the hopes he will slip up. However, this does not happen and as the two begin to spend time together, Dottie wonders if she should terminate her plan. When Melville reveals an astonishing secret, Dottie is forced to question who Melville really is.moreless
