Tous Les Matins Du Monde (All the Mornings of the World) is a beautiful film centered around an older man who finds comfort in music as he grieves the death of his wife. This emotionally-charged 1991 French film was directed by Alain Corneau and stars Anne Brochet, Jean-Pierre Marielle, G'rard Depardieu, Guillame Depardieu, Carole Richert, Michel Bouquet, Jean-Claude Dreyfus, Myriam Boyer, Yves Lambrecht and Philippe Duclos. Monsieur de Sainte Colombe (Jean-Pierre Marielle), a talented viola de gamba musician, stumbles home one day only to find his wife dead. In an effort to overcome his tragic loss, he moves himself and his two daughters - Madeleine (Anne Brochet) and Toinette (Carole Richert) - into a small house in their backyard. As the three of them come to terms with reality in their isolation and silence, a bold man enters their quarters requesting music lessons from Colombe. Through his encounter with an eager scholar, Colombe drives home the film's most important message: music is a rich language capable of healing the deepest wounds.moreless
