Trail of Robin Hood is a classic 1950 Western musical starring Roy Rodgers and his horse, Trigger, as themselves. Rodgers comes to the aid of his friend Jack Holt (himself). Holt, having retired from his career acting in Westerns, is selling Christmas trees at a reasonable price in a small town - much to the chagrin of his sole competitor, J. Corwin ("J.C.") Aldridge (Emory Parnell). Aldridge is a ruthless businessman looking to corner the Christmas tree market and jack up the cost of Christmas trees; however, he first must put Holt out of business. Unknown to Aldridge, one of his employees, Mitch McCall (Clifton Young), has taken matters into his own hands, ordering his men to infiltrate and sabotage Holt's operation at all costs. Hard business quickly turns to murder, and it's up to Roy Rodgers to ride in and save the day. The film features a veritable "who's who" of period Western stars, including Allan Lane, Rex Allen, Monte Hale, Bill Farnum, Tom Tyler, and Tom Keene. Songs featured in the film include "Get a Christmas Tree for Johnny," "Home Town Jubilee," and "Every Day is Christmas in the West."moreless
