Trapped is a 2002 film about a family trying to deal with a tragedy. Karen Jennings (Charlize Theron) used to be a nurse, but gave up her career to spend more time with her family. She is deeply in love with her husband, Will (Stuart Townsend), and enjoys a close relationship with her precocious young daughter, Abby (Dakota Fanning). Will works as a successful research physician, and after patenting a new drug, the entire Jennings family celebrates his success and looks forward to a happy future. However, their wealth has attracted some deadly enemies. Right after he exits a tribute to his accomplishments, Will finds himself facing a gun-wielding woman, Cheryl (Courtney Love). She announces that her husband, Joe (Kevin Bacon), is currently holding Abby hostage. Will and Karen have to figure out a way to rescue their daughter from the ruthless extortionists, a scenario made even more urgent by the fact that Abby suffers from life-threatening asthma attacks.
