Treasure of Matecumbe is a drama movie that was directed by Vincent McEveety and produced by Walt Disney Productions in 1976. The movie features the story of a young boy (Robert Foxworth) and his best friend (Joan Hackett) as they run away from their homes in search of a secret treasure that no one has ever found. The two dream of living a life with riches and luxury, after having suffered through poverty and pain for most of their lives. As the two travel through day and night into the wilderness in search of the treasure, they begin to realize that their quest has more perils attached to it than they could have imagined. As they encounter strangers with ulterior motives and random animals from the wild, their struggle becomes as much about survival as it is about finding the treasure. Will they eventually find what they seek and enjoy the rest of their lives, or will the secret treasure remain hidden forever?
