Treasure of Ruby Hills is a 1955 cowboy drama, with plenty of six-shooters, tough-talking cowboys and romance. Based on a short story by Louis L'Amour, the movie tells the story of Ross Haney (Zachary Scott, "Mildred Pierce"), the son of a gunslinger, who wants be a legitimate rancher. He thinks he's secured his future by legally buying all the water rights to Ruby Hills range. What he doesn't know is that he has put himself in the middle of a long running feud between two dirty dealing cattle ranchers, "Chalk" Reynolds (Barton MacLane) and Walt Payne (Charles E. Fredericks). These two scoundrels are fighting for sole control of the land, using ruthless hired killers to scare away small-time ranchers. Haney will have to battle the evil ranchers, their hired killers, and a double-dealing foreman Alan Doran (Dick Foran) from the nearby Double V Ranch, to make his own little home in the range safe and secure.
