Truck Turner is a blaxplotation film that was released in 1974 and was distributed by American International Pictures. The film was directed by Jonathan Kaplan and was produced by Paul M. Heller and Fred weintraub. Isaac Hayes scored the music for the soundtrack and many have compared it to Shaft composition-wise. The screenplay for Truck Turner was written by Jerry Wilkes, Michael Allin and Oscar Williams. The film is about a former professional football player who becomes a bounty hunter with his partner Jerry, who are looking for a bail-jumping pimp in Los Angeles, California. When a shootout between Truck and the pimp occurs, Truck has no choice, but to use deadly force and kill the pimp. This one fatal action causes Truck to become a marked man and constantly hunted by hired assassins. The cast features many actors who play very interesting characters Truck Turner is played by Issac Hayes and, Yaphet Kotto portrays a character called Harvard Blue.
