Try to Remember: The Fantasticks is a movie from Zeitgeist Films, released in 1995. This film is a documentary about a musical that ran for many years at the Sullivan Street Playhouse in New York City. It features the people responsible for the music, the lyrics, the script, and the staging, and Eli Kabillio directs the piece. The actors for the film are F. Murray Abraham, Jim Cook, David Edwards, Jeremy Ellison-Gladstone, and Ira Joe Fisher. The musical originated in 1960 with music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones. Produced by Lore Noto, "The Fantasticks" was an original off-Broadway production that had 17,162 performances, the longest-running musical in the world. In 2006, the production made a revival on off-Broadway and is still running at this time. The story is as old as time itself, featuring the traditional boy-meets-girl scenario. This documentary will give the watcher the feel of the original show, the original story, and the reasons it has stayed so popular throughout the years.moreless
