Turntable is a fast moving pulp action drama written and directed by Robert Patton-Spruill. When a drug deal worth $800K turns into a brutal ambush, the quest for street justice is on. But the quest soon runs cold at the feet of DJ Spyder (Rus- sell G. Jones), an emotionally aloof DJ. By night, Spyder spins records for the insanely controlling Victor Slade (Tony Todd), a man who would rather kill than lose his prized dancer, Critter (Heather D. Lee); while by day, Spyder sleeps at his senile Uncle Charlie's brothel, where an endless parade of 'working girls' distract him from his inner thoughts. It's almost dawn and no one in Robert Patton-Spruill's Turntable seems comfortable with the rhythms in their lives. Detectives Jackson (Lonnie Farmer) and McCoy (Will Lyman) are tired of being the early birds to crimes, while seductresses Tracy (Celeste Oliva) and Critter plan to start new lives with the same man. Mischievous brothers Jerome (Beresford Bennett) and Andre (Tyrone Burton) want to hide out while things from their last heist cool down. And Cuban bad guys Frankie (Richardo Engermann) and Malik (Naheem Allah) want DJ Spyder to sing like a jail bird or they're gonna kill him and everyone else they meet. Cameo appearances by rap artists Ed O.G. and Public Enemy's Professor Griff and an original score by platinum selling producer Dow Brain set Robert Patton-Spruill's Turntable on fire. Filmed against the kaleidoscopic world of Boston's hip-hop community, Turntable sets the standard for Urban New Wave filmmaking, mixing classicnoir intimidation, irreverent humor, and larger than life characters to tell the story of ghetto superstars, lovers, & brothers.moreless
