Two for the Money is a movie starring Al Pacino (The Godfather, Ocean's Thirteen), Matthew McConaughey (Dazed and Confused, The Wedding Planner), and Rene Russo (Lethal Weapon, Outbreak). Brandon Lang (Matthew McConaughey) is a retired college football player who spends his time watching football and placing bets. Lang undoubtedly has a knack for picking out the players with the best skills and the most potential to succeed in the NFL. Walter Abrams (Al Pacino), a sports analyst who works for one of the largest sports consulting firms in the US, recognizes Lang's talent, and thinks he can capitalize off of his knowledge. He offers Lang a position at the company, to which Lang accepts. Lang adopts a new lifestyle, drives the latest car, wears the most fashionable clothes, and he experiences some success at the beginning. But unfortunately, Lang begins to lose his grip, and causes Abrams to lose a lot of money. Things become so muddled, Abrams even begins to think Lang is having an affair with his wife Toni (Rene Russo). Will Lang redeem himself in Abrams eyes before it is too late?moreless

The New York Times Manohla Dargis

A confusion of tones, intentions and allusions, Two for the Money lurches from upbeat to downbeat without ever settling into a coherent groove.

  • 50

    Los Angeles Times Carina Chocano

Pure, unself-conscious macho camp, but it's not like Pacino and McConaughey don't know it. They're pitching tents and romping around in the grass like Jerry Maguire on steroids.

    Variety Brian Lowry

Despite nice touches, pic meanders in the middle and ends flatly.
