Two Mules for Sister Sara is a comic western set in Mexican backcountry during the Franco-Mexican War. When Hogan (Clint Eastwood), an American Civil War veteran turned mercenary for the Juaristas, comes across three desperadoes trying to rape a woman in the desert, he does what a hero should do. He shoots two of the bad guys and throws a stick of dynamite at the third who tries to run away. When Hogan turns around, the young woman, Sara (Shirley MacLaine), has dressed herself, and he sees that she is a nun. Sister Sara explains her involvement with the Juaristas and asks Hogan to protect her from the French army. Hogan is on a mission to attack a French garrison at Chihuahua, but agrees to escort the nun to a camp. With French troops in pursuit, the pair set out on horseback and a mule. Though the cynical mercenary and the nun are already falling in love, the holy sister is not what she seems to be.moreless
