Under Fiesta Stars is a 1941 film starring Gene Autry and directed by Frank McDonald. When a local mine owner leaves half of the mine to Gene in his will, Gene wants to continue operations as normal. The other half of the mine, however, was given to Barbara Erwin (Carol Hughes), an easterner who wants out of the mining business and wants her share of the money. Barbara then hires lawyers to take care of the situation, but unbeknownst to her, the lawyers are crooks and decide to take matters into their own hands. Gene is soon in danger, and he must find a way to save the mine and his own life. Also starring Smiley Burnette, Frank Darien, Joe Strauch Jr. and Pauline Drake, Under Fiesta Stars features a couple of musical interludes, one where Gene sings "When You're Smilin'" and another the titular song "Under Fiesta Stars."
