Under Western Stars is an Oscar nominated Western film where American actor and singer Roy Rogers stars as himself in his very first film. Roy plays a freshly elected Congress member from a remote district who is on a determined mission to bring water to his hometown. A hydro power company had built a dam and the local ranchers have been deprived of water. Roy's dead father had also fought for the same cause in Congress and Roy carries on his legacy. Along the way Roy faces many unexpected hurdles like when he finds out that he needs the support of a key congressman to succeed. Eleanor Fairbanks (Carol Hughes), the daughter of the owner of the power company, teaches him the ways of Washington and of Congress and eventually falls in love with him. Roy Rogers' performance in this film made him an instant hit and earned him the title ever after as the"King of the Cowboys".
