2004
Rating:

Undertow follows Chris Munn (Jaime Bell) and his younger brother Tim (Devon Alan) as they try to guard a family secret. After their mother's death, the boys' father, John (Dermot Mulroney), moves the family to a ramshackle farm in Southern Georgia where they make their living raising hogs. Chris bides his time on the farm by courting the neighboring farmer's daughter Lila (Kristen Stewart). Their quiet existence is shattered when John's estranged brother Deel (Josh Lucas) arrives at the farm. Deel has just been released from prison and John, reluctantly, allows him to stay with the family. The family reunion is short-lived and soon the boys are on the run. Chris is forced to grow up quickly, caring for his brother who has a unique eating disorder and keeping them both safe from harm. David Gordon Green directs the 2004 thriller. The film won the Young Artist Award for best performance in a feature film for both leading and supporting actors.moreless
